Irish Shepherd's Pie

Traditional Irish Shepherd'south Pie would actually call for basis lamb.  The difference between Shepherd'due south Pie and Cottage Pie is the meat.  Cottage Pie uses ground beef, while Shepherd'south Pie uses basis lamb.

I called this recipe Shepherd's Pie.  Merely, I wrote the recipe and then that you could use basis beefiness or footing lamb.

I typically use ground beef because it is widely available.  But, for a special occasion, like St. Patricks day, I would use ground lamb.

Easy Shepherd's Pie

Making the all-time Shepherd's Pie is not hard.  But, there are a few steps to it.  Y'all have to brand the meat mixture, the mashed potatoes, assemble the goulash, and bake information technology.

I discover that the easiest way to brand this dish is to work ahead.  You could brand the beefiness or lamb mixture ahead of time.  Or, you could make the mashed potatoes alee of fourth dimension.

Yous could also make the whole recipe ahead of time.  Merely gather the casserole, cover the dish, and keep it in the fridge until you are ready to bake it.  I find it is all-time to broil information technology within 3 days of preparing it.

When you are ready to bake information technology, take it out of the fridge for about twenty minutes before y'all demand to bake information technology to allow it starting time coming to room temperature.  Uncover information technology, and bake.
